Nokia voted South Africa?s most loved cell-phone brand?again

It?s official! The Sunday Times, South Africa?s top weekly newspaper, has announced that Nokia is top of the pops among South Africans. The 14^th annual Sunday Times Top Brands Survey event was held last night in Johannesburg and revealed Nokia as the leading cell-phone brand in the business to consumer category. Research House TNS conducted the survey for which they interviewed 3500 consumers over the age of 18.

?I love hearing news like this, and we have had quite a run in the past few weeks,? said Colin Baumgart, Nokia?s South African GM. ?This year we have been so focused on bringing a ?differentiated offering to everyone that loves our products. This award shows us that we are doing the right things with our new Lumia smartphones and Asha mobile phones. I want to personally thank our customers and fans and promise that we are going to continue to bring them great products for many years to come.?

The survey evaluated overall brand familiarity, user experience, non-user perception, and actual brand presence in the South African market. The combined results calculated the winning brands in 38 consumer categories, and 13 business sector categories.

?It is great standing shoulder-to-shoulder with the likes of Coca-Cola, Vodacom and Nike, and we would like to pass our congratulations on to all of the winners, and our thanks to the Sunday Times and TNS,? concluded Baumgart.

Last week, World Wide Worx?s Mobility 2012 survey revealed that over half of the South Africans surveyed still chose a Nokia when ?buying a phone. Earlier this year, Nokia was awarded with two Product of the Year Awards for the Nokia C3, which won in the category of best phone under R1000. The Nokia N9 walked away with the award for ?the best and most innovative product of the year in the smartphone category.
